Juanita Nielsen was a journalist and a very public activist against the development of Victoria Street in Kings Cross, where she lived. In 1975 she mysteriously disappeared. Sydney gangster Abe Saffron was implicated in her disappearance and supposed murder. Her body has never been found, and there are many theories as to her final resting place. One is that she is buried under one of the runways at Sydney airport.
It has since been categorically proven beyond all reasonable, or unreasonable, doubt that she is NOT buried under any concrete at 23 Albert Street Berry.
Phew!!

I’m off to find out more about Juanita. Surely there should be a reopening of her case ….

Juanita Nielsen was a cousin?sister? – anyway, related to – the late Mary Shaw, a well-known resident of Megalong Valley, an historian and relation of the Foys who were the longtime owners of the Hydro-Majestic in Medlow Bath. One particularly inventive rumour is that Juanita’s body was buried under the Great Western Highway, a victim of Ivan Milat who was working in the road gang upgrading the Highway in the Mountains in 1975.

Golly Gosh.Christine, Sir Francis (that is how I address him) – Francis Foy, lives next door to NH, Six degrees of separation according to SP’s post. I wonder if Sir Francis may know anything. It is similar to the question in one of Kander and Ebbs songs ‘ Where do the Elephant’s Go?’ – well during my time working at the Capitol Theatre and the appalling smells which would waft through the corridors – I have been of the opinion that there is a dead one under the bowels – tunnels of the Capitol Theatre. I do hope that no smells begin to exude from under your concrete once you take up residence! Juanita could be under any one of those appalling tasteless homes AS built in KX.
